Magnet buying guide

Choose the right magnet category before you ask for a quote.

Most magnet inquiries are simple at the start. The hard part is knowing which details matter. This page gives overseas buyers a cleaner way to sort products, prepare drawings or photos, and avoid a slow quote process.

Start from the buying problem, not only the product name.

Different buyers use different search words. A hardware buyer may search by shape. A toy importer may start with packaging. An engineer may ask for grade, coating, and pull force. The page below connects those paths to the right CIYI section.

When ferrite is usually enough

Ferrite magnets are often the better place to start when the order needs stable cost, repeat cartons, and standard shapes. They are common in craft parts, teaching products, displays, simple holding parts, and mixed packs.

When NdFeB makes more sense

NdFeB magnets are useful when the product has little space but needs stronger holding force. The quote depends heavily on grade, coating, temperature requirement, tolerance, and magnetization direction.

When packaging changes the price

Toy and retail orders need packing details earlier than many buyers expect. A bulk carton, private label box, warning label, or mixed set can change labor, material, MOQ, and lead time.

When a drawing saves time

Custom parts can start from a photo, but drawings reduce back and forth. If tolerance, hole position, surface finish, or pull force matters, send those details before sampling.

Quote preparation

Send a short request with the right details.

A good inquiry does not need a long introduction. One clear photo, one target size, expected quantity, and the product use can already make the first reply more useful.

What if I only have a photo?

Send the photo first, plus rough size and quantity. CIYI can give an early direction, then ask for a drawing or sample if the part needs tight tolerance or a special magnetization direction.

Should I ask for price before choosing material?

You can. Tell us what the magnet needs to do. CIYI can compare ferrite and NdFeB options when both are possible.

Do I need to know the magnetic grade?

It helps, but it is not always required for the first message. If you do not know the grade, send the size, use, and force target. We can review a practical range.

What details help with export packaging?

Send carton size if you have it, retail box style, label language, barcode needs, destination country, and whether the order is for wholesale, retail, or online sales.
